Great! Thank you!

Hi, V023531. Beans are special in that they are a source of both protein and carbohydrate. That means that you can decide what type of food in either food group you want to use instead. For example, for every cup of beans, you can have an extra ounce of fish or meat, plus a carbohydrate exchange (half a cup of potato or pasta, for example). If you want more carbohydrates in your day, you can have two exchanges for every cup of beans; if you want fewer carbohydrates, you can add two ounces of fish or meat to the current amount for every cup of beans.

Why so many kidney, black, and pinto beans in my weekly menu? I don’t even really like beans. Is there some other item that I can eat in place of the beans?
