Hi, hotelhania. It really depends on the meal. We definitely encourage low-carbohydrate vegetables at every meal, so if one is missing, you can add it. The pat of butter is just if the addition of the vegetable means the carbohydrate+protein content starts to approach the fat content – if there are fewer fat grams, then it is no longer a keto meal. However, adding cooked vegetables and butter can start to add up over the course of the day, and ultimately mean too many calories. It is usually better if you add a very low-carbohydrate vegetable (cucumber, celery) without butter, if you can.

Thank you. Are we allowed to add a vegetable and a pat of butter to any meal?

Hi, hotelhania. You would need to have a vegetable with it. I suggest a low-carbohydrate option like a cup of steamed greens (spinach, kale), topped with a teaspoon of butter or coconut oil.

Dinner I chose the flank steak. The recipe is for a 20 oz steak which is 3 servings according to the recipe. So my dinner would be 7 oz of steak. Is that my full dinner just steak?
