Hi, klee2005. The overall menu is fairly low in carbohydrates, about 45% of energy. You don’t have to have snacks, if you don’t want. You can add your snack exchanges to main meals, and you can trade carbohydrates for proteins. Using your current Monday menu as an example, you can add 2 ounces of protein food and a milky dairy product to your breakfast instead of Snack #1 and #3; at lunch, you can have 4 ounces of chicken and 1 cup of sweet potato instead of Snack #2; at dinner, you can have the fruit from Snack #1 as dessert.

I’m new here and a diabetic. I’m concerned about some of the carbs and normally do not eat snacks through out the day due to taking insulin with each meal. working on finding the right balance with food and starting working out.
