Hi gagamary. I too am diabetic and genetic high cholesterol. Go back to modify your profile as there is a spot in there for “Low Cholesterol” (LC) and “Low Sugar” (LS).
I also suggest you take the time to do the long version of your personal menu planner to customize your food choices, which also involves going through recipes. Click on breakfast/ lunch/ dinner/ snack and favorite icons to highlight when and where you would enjoy these foods. Or click on them to de-highlight and delete them.
As a diabetic I know the “rule of whites” HOWEVER you are allowed an “allowable portion” of their counter-parts such as Whole grain bread vs white, and brown rice vs white (which both of those whites never appear in your food choices). Also, the more “light blue” food choices you make over the “dark blue”, the healthier your menu.
Complex carbs vs straight carbs are VERY beneficial in “ALLOWABLE PORTIONS” in a diabetic diet that this menu planner prepares for you. Balancing complex carbs with proteins reduces the carb risk to a diabetic even further by keeping glucose at an optimum, non-spiking level. Remember, small but frequent balanced meals is the method here.
Hit “save” after you have gone through each, individual selection for Carbs, Proteins, Fats, Fruits and Sweets. When fully complete with all catagories, hit the “Save and create menu” button. You have just created a 1 week menu, and your first “Monday” Menu should pop up. At the very top, you are given a Health Level Rating and we should be at a 90% or above for our health concerns. Then click on the “Exchange Mode” Icon to review your Carb, Protein, Fat, Fruit, Veggie exchange for each meal and summarized for the day at the end. Fully review each day’s menu (Mon-Sun) to see if you approve. (you can click on any food choice to exchange it). When you are done, then hit the “Print Grocery List”
I hope this helps

Hi gagamary54, Thanks for posting and welcome!
I want to let you know that the Trim Down Club program is low-carb. About 40-45% of calories come from carbohydrates, where the recommendation for diabetics is less than 50%, and the usual diet is up to 65%. Our carb exchanges are calculated according to American Diabetes Association exchanges, and we encourage very high fiber intake and only the best types of fats for diabetics. Of course, recommended exercise fits all physical situations and schedules. This program definitely suits your needs.

And, regarding the amount of time it takes you to build a menu, please do keep in mind that it really depends on your personal preferences and limitations. The first menu will always take a bit more time. But, as you progress and move into the next week, everything will be a lot easier, as the menu planner will populate your previous selections. Additionally, feel free to mark foods that you love with a ‘Heart’ icon and foods you don’t like with an ‘X’ or ‘Block’ icon. This will help us understand the foods you’d like to have in your future menus.
Hope this information helps!
Best of luck 🙂

i am diabetic but not sure how to navigate here. feeling disappointed right now. why is there not a spot to list your illnesses. I don’t eat many carbs but have to keep clicking off things in the menu like rice, bread etc, also cant stand any fish but tuna. sorry to be so short but this is a frustrating site.
