Hi, Barbara (and thanks, Amyleck!). Porridge is fine as long as it is whole grain, and of course, in proper portions. You may find the personal Menu Planner application (through the “Apps” link above) to be more suitable for you, as it lets you choose the specific foods you want in your menus. As for your diabetes, the menu pattern is based on principles of diabetic nutrition, so no worries 🙂

What is porridge? If you’ve been diagnosed with Diabetes, my opinion is cutting out sugars which is hidden in most the things we eat. Processed food, low fat food, sweets, wheat, gluten, breads, rice etc…

Good thing for Breakfast would be items like Cage Free Eggs – cooked anyway you prefer, vegetables, fruits, protein (organic bacon or sausage).

Yogurt has hidden sugars and of course oats do too.

You could make a smoothie with fruits (fresh fruits – cut up and then freeze) and add almond milk (unsweetened)….

That’s my recommendations & experience

This seems like a very Americanised group and some of the foods in the menu makers are not English. Can anyone help. Plus I only like porridge for breakfast (have difficulty eating anything) and I only have a sandwich at lunch. I know I’m sounding picky and I want this educational eating to work for me as I have just been diagnosed with Diabetes. Can anyone advise or help please.
