![]() | jbm1855: as for adjustments to the daily/weekly menu plans; if a plan calls for let’s say tuna, and I don’t have any on hand, I’ll substitute sardines (always have cans of sardines and kippered snacks on hand – love them). Or, if it says a serving of sweet potato and I don’t have either sweet potatoes nor white potatoes, I’ll substitute the same portion of corn. Daily menus are not set in stone. The important fact is,if and when we need to substitute we follow the exact AMOUNTS specified. It is just as important to eat the correct amount of Grains, Dairy, Protein, Fruit, Vegetables etc. at those times notated on the menus, but it is most important to stick to the right quantity of them. |
![]() | jbm1855: Welcome! I too am diabetic. Once I in put my favorite foods, chose a diabetic meal plan, the Trim Down Club system worked out a very good 8 week menu plan (week by week) for me. All food portions are within diabetic acceptable ranges. I do find that there is a LOT of food and sometimes have to ‘drink’ my snacks, instead of ingesting foods. e.g. I make up healthy shakes and smoothies. Easier to digest after a big breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yet they have all the portions/ingredients required to substitute for a given snack. |
