Regarding banana, it is special because it is so high in carbohydrates (worth 2 fruits or 1 fruit plus 1 carb). Go ahead and swap in what works best for you – if not in the menu itself, then in your actual meal/snack.

I was wondering why sometimes I have a whole long list of options if I want to switch out an ingredient, but if I find that same ingredient in a different part of my weekly menu, and try to switch it out, there are only a few options to choose from. Why do I not always have the same options to choose from to swap one single item? is it “worth” something differently, nutritionally depending on the time of day? And while I happen to love bananas, I dont always have them in the house(I cant control what other people will eat before I go shopping again…) why is there “no other options available” for a banana?
