![]() | I gave up sugar a year ago… the wonderful thing about it is when you get it out of your system you quit craving it!! 😛 |
![]() | Hi, StephB. A combination of cardio with intermittent intensity and strength training is ideal. Cardio can be walking, bicycling, or swimming at a comfortable pace – not slowly, but not at a rate where you are left breathless – and the intermittent intensity refers to adding bursts of high-intensity exercise in what is otherwise steady. Examples include jogging for 30 seconds every 5 minutes during a walk, or walking uphill for 30 seconds when you normally walk on a flat surface. Strength-training does not have to be powerlifting at a gym, but rather anything that involves any weight – including your own. These can be modified push-ups, or arm lifts with random heavy objects such as food cans or water bottles. Start gradually – i.e., 5-10 minutes 3 times per week – then gradually increase the length of the workout and the frequency. ![]() | I am a new member and new to this thread. Stephb, Good job on cutting back on refined carbs. Like you, I work very long hours. I am a chef. I stand on my feet for 10 hours a day and my doc told me that, that does not count towards exercise. I can accept that. have you tried soaking your almonds? Raw soaked almonds are very good. When you soak nuts and grains they start the germination process, hence, they are easier for your body to digest. I am not a fan of exercise, however, doing ANYTHING to get our heart rate up is good. I like my nintendo wii fit. I love the yoga! I can do it in the comfort of my own home when it is convenient for me. It has really helped my lower back pain. Just keep doing what you are doing. As you know, there are no immediate results in anything. |
![]() | Thanks very much Stephanie and Sharon. Yes Sharon some tips regarding exercise would be great! |
![]() | Hi, StephB (and thanks, Stephanie!). If you have been on restrictive diets in the past, your metabolism likely slowed, and it may take your body a while to get it back up again – eating normal amounts of food is an important part of this. Exercise can certainly speed these process up, even if it is light and comfortable, such as walking or yoga. If you would like some guidance regarding physical activity, please do repost here, and I would be happy to help. |
![]() | Stephanie – just keep doing what you are doing. Reading your post is so like what I’m going through. I’ve been doing this appx 1 month. Nothing happened really for the first three weeks. 3 lbs was it! I thought why keep on; however, I feel better eating this way. So I continued. It’s been five weeks and 10 lbs. This means so much. I’ve had knee surgery on both knees and have complications. I can’t do exercise. It works! Just keep on keepn’ on! |
![]() | Hi I am doing the three weeks without sugar thing to try and get over my sugar addiction. I have also cut right back on my refined carbohydrates intake. I am eating a lot of fruit and almonds at night. I have only lost 500g in two weeks. I haven’t been exercising. What am I doing wrong or am I just impatient? I have looked at the menu planners. I don’t have time to prepare the meals suggested but am trying to use the best alternatives. I will record my meals this week. Help. Thanks, Stephanie |
