Hi, KayBenton. You can find Successful Beginnings in the “Groups” area of the site (link in the top right corner of each site page), or you can click here: https://www.trimdownclub.com/groups/talking-cooking-nanas/.

I am new to the program and completed my first week. I didn’t change anything too drastic. I tried flax seeds, protein powder and free range eggs. I cut down on sugar, drink only coffee (1-2 cups) and water. My energy level has dropped and my stomach always seems upset. Any ideas as to why?

I noticed in the past that weight loss was hard for me if my intake of sodium was to high. I am new to program, but gave up diet drinks about 6 months ago and lost weight without trying to hard. Used to be a diet coke fan but don’t miss it anymore. I am really paying attention to portion sizes too. Hit a 3 day plateu and gave up roll at dinner one night and dropped a pound overnight. Then went back to following the plan and the weight is still coming off. I have more energy too. I believe I have to do this for my health and the weight loss will be a bonus.

Thanks for your response. I am on week 8 and feel that I have not lost the weight or inches I expected. I am trying to stick with the program, but still find the menus confusing and not practical for me. Can I just eat a salad with veggies and some fruit on it for lunch and follow guidelines for the rest? I looked at rice cakes and they did not seem all that healthy ie artificial flavors and other ingredients. They are suggested a lot.. Trying. But very exasperated and disappointed. Thought this was going to be the answer for me. You suggested I reduce carbs on days I don’t exercise. I exercise 5 or 6 days a week but can do that, what types of carbs are best to leave off?

Hi, Kay. The challenge may be that your BMI is quite close to the level just below. If you want to try cutting back on carbohydrates on days that you don’t work out, that may help.

I can relate trl newrebecca… I have been on this program for 7wks and only lost 2-3 lbs.. I am very frustrated. I can tell a small difference on my clothes but now feel that has stagnated as well. I have incorporated intervals in my workouts too. Nothing seems to help. It is not fun to read all if these successes and I am trying so hard and nothing!

Hi, NewRebecca. If you are looking fit, that really is the bottom line. As for the number on the scale, if you have been exercising, it could be that you have exchanged some fat for muscle, which is heavier; further, the muscle attracts water, which can explain sudden fluctuations, which is what you described. Regarding the carbs, note that this program is actually low-carb, with just 40-45% of energy from carbohydrates, less from available carbohydrates. If the situation does not improve over the next few weeks, please do re-post here, and I will troubleshoot with you.

After 4 weeks, I’m up 1.5 lbs overall. I lost 1 lb each week then it shot back up. I am looking more fit so I was shocked when I stepped on the scale. Eating all these carbs, even 100% whole grain, is freaking me out a bit but I’m plugging along.

Hi, Georginak. We’ll do our best to help you avoid an invasive procedure that carries risks of complications. Currently you are actually too slim to qualify for bariatric surgery (the group of procedures that includes the sleeve), and they don’t always work long-term. Please do take advantage of the Groups (see the link above) and these forums to get the support you need to make this work.
