Hi, eponymous1212. Are you still checking your blood sugars? If you were having problems, milk sugars can sometimes cause a problem. As for the total milk amount, 3-5 cups per day seems to be the recommendation if you don’t have kidney or lier disease. If you buy high-quality milk (i.e., fortified, organic and pastured), it is fine. Regular milks have some undesirable fats and chemicals. If you can find organic soy milk, it also contains a good amount of the amino acid tryptophan, which is considered soothing.

Due to concerns over blood sugar levels, I dropped sugars from my diet overnight; and within a week returned to safe levels. As a child, hot milk before bedtime was both a comfort food and helped me sleep. Suddenly, my milk intake (semi-skimmed) has gone up dramatically … during the day … before bedtime … and in the middle of the night, if suffering from insomnia. Does anyone please know what a safe milk intake would be and if / what harm I might be doing myself? Many thanks
