Hi, Terri. It really doesn’t matter in what form you eat a food (as long as it is healthy, of course), you can still check the food off in your food selections – that definitely goes for the fruit and tomatoes. As for the eggs, you can select “regular egg” and substitute the duck egg. Because duck eggs tend to be larger and richer than chicken eggs, just cut out a fat exchange from the rest of your menu (i.e. teaspoon of oil). Regarding the coconut milk, if you are using the type that comes in a carton as a dairy milk substitute, you can just swap it in at mealtime, using regular milk as a placeholder in your menu; it is low in protein, but the rest of the menu is quite high in protein in any event, and so you will not be lacking. If you mean the type of coconut milk used in cooking (that comes in a can), then you would use it as you would oil.

No…. I wanted to include these things. I could add coconut milk and duck eggs, I understand. If I use them in recipes, how do I account for the differences inherent in them? Also, because I couldn’t choose the the fruit and tomatoes, so they wouldn’t appear in the menu or recipes raw, they are not included at all – even though I can eat them cooked. Not feeling that this conversation is helping.

Hi, Terri. That’s exactly why the Menu Planner application was designed as it is – to give you individual choices. You can include what you want and avoid what you don’t want.

I have a multitude of food allergies. Cow’s milk (use coconut milk), chicken eggs (eat duck eggs), and raw stone fruits and tomatoes (I can eat them cooked). I’d like to see recipes and meals include this situation but there is no way to do so. I simply had to leave all these things out when making the food choices. These are not the only food allergies, but the others I can deal with.

Hi, TrishandSimon. If you want very few different types of food in your menu, you can click on “little variety” in the bottom righthand corner of your profile (you can access this by clicking on your name at the top of any page). That way, even if you complete the selection process, you will see fewer different types of food.
If you are referring to the number of courses for each meal in your menu, you are welcome to cut some out and double upon portions of others that are in the same food group.
If your concern was still not addressed, please do get back to me.

Thanks for your reply. My issue is that I DO NOT WANT LOTS OF THINGS ON THE MENU PAGE so they remain pale blue…what am I doing wrong…I’m pretty fed up with the whole thing and wish I had never bothered to download and pay for this in the first place.

Hi, TrishandSimon. Have all of the bars under the four meal titles (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks) turned blue for all major categories (Carbs, Proteins, Fats, Sweets, Vegetables, Fruits) and you are still unable to get a menu? I would just like to clarify before sending your query on to tech support.

Hi, Terri, and welcome. I’m happy to help. What issues are you having with the Menu Planner?

TrishandSimon 11 years ago

Terri I am with you there. I too can’t seem to get my menu started as it keeps saying I am not choosing enough from each category. I am about to give up on the whole idea but don’t know if I will get my money back. It is all too hard for me.
