Hi, HChatter. You are likely to only find those items at Asian grocery stores. Fu is a high-gluten wheat-based meat substitute – similar to “seitan,” but with more carbohydrates. “Fuyu” is fermented tofu, a very salty cheese substitute sold in brine in jars.

My grocery list said “Fu” under the grain category and no one at the whole foods store or earth fare store knew what it was. Also no one knows what soy fuyu is. They only know fuyu as persimmon.
