I would suggest to try getting more of your proteins from nuts and legumes (cook the legumes very well) – other than reducing the amount of protein each day, eating these items instead of animal products has been shown to help combat osteopenia/osteoprosis. |
![]() | I have been diagnosed as osteopenic, bordering osteoporosis. I was on Alendronic acid for about 4 yrs, now off it, and advised to limit my protein intake . Will the amount of protein in the trim down diet be disadvantageous to me? |
![]() | Hi, Georgia. Calcium intake is only part of the bone health equation. It is also important to eat certain fruits, such as those high in vitamin C (especially citrus) and apples (especially the skin, so it may be worth trying organic, and to get plenty of vitamin D. |
