Will working out help improve my posture?

I work at my desk all day and have started to notice that I am slouching more than usual due to the long periods of sitting. My wife suggested maybe getting into fitness to help with my posture. Could working out help improve my posture?

If there is an optimum balance between your back and core muscles, you'll be less likely to slouch or take a poor posture. Thus, a targeted workout that focuses on strengthening your core and back muscles and also stretching any taut muscles will help improve your posture.
